ORANGE CRUSH 🧡

We can all agree that February is a grey time of the year so we wanted to bring you warmth and energy with orange as our colour of the month. Frank Sinatra said it best, “orange is the happiest colour"

THE HISTORY OF ORANGE

Interestingly, the colour orange only received its name during the 16th century, prior to that time it was simply called yellow-red! This changed when our beloved orange trees were brought to Europe from Asia by Portuguese merchants and colour was named after the ripe orange fruit. One of our favourites, the blood orange, is currently in season- check out the delicious blood orange marmalade recipe on Café Sucre Farine.

PSYCHOLOGY OF ORANGE

Since orange is the combination of both red and yellow, it contains traits behind the colour psychology of both colours. Take the happiness of yellow and the energy from red and you’ve got yourself orange! Orange radiates warmth and happiness, positive words associated with orange are: social, fun, happiness, joyfulness, cheerful and warmth. We often overlook the colour orange in interiors however, it’s surprisingly versatile and when you incorporate and style it correctly you can transform any room.

STYLING ORANGE

Orange is a versatile and welcoming colour and with shades varying from tangerine to Hermes orange there are hues to suit every taste. Orange can be a really effective accent colour as it contrasts beautifully with cool tones and complements warm colours.

Add an orange print on a wall, a rug, light fitting or even bathmat to bring colour and warmth into a room.
