The spooky season is upon us! Halloween is fantastic time to get creative- from table decor to dressing up your home (and eating lots of sweets)- we think it's important to have fun and decorate your home without breaking the bank.
Whether you have been decorating your home over the past month now that it is Autumn (read our latest blog post on how you can spice up your home), or if you're a last minute doer-upper, here are our top five picks of Halloween DIY decorating ideas.
1. Spider Web Placemats
This graphic placemat is a wonderful addition to any Halloween party. We do warn you that it takes a steady hand and some patience, however it is definitely worth it for a gorgeous table display. All you'll need is black puff paint, a spider web template, wax paper and invisible tape. Thanks to Delia Creates for the fantastic template and step by step guide on how you can create your own spider web at home.
2. Pumpkin Vase
Carved pumpkins are an obvious tradition when it comes to Halloween, but have you seen floral pumpkins? They are our new obsession! Gather flowers from your garden, or purchase a bouquet of your choosing, clean out the inside of a pumpkin (great for soup).. et voila. Dress every counter in your house with this festive floral display, a beautiful centre piece that will create conversation and didn't cost much in time or money. A win win.
3. Paper Bats
When someone mentions Halloween, our minds instantly jump to witches and bats. We're using Lovely Indeed's guide, and her wonderful approach to using materials you have already lying around the home, to create a DIY bat display.
4. Spooky Candle Holders
A particularly chic way to Halloweenify your home. Give a new lease of life to your old (or new) wine bottles by painting them in matte-black spray paint. Fantastic for Halloween and beyond, this is a stylish tablescaping idea that you can use year after year.
5. Halloween Paper Lanterns
Light up your windows, mantles, doorstep or use as a centrepiece this Halloween with customised Chinese paper lanterns. Affordable and unique, this fun project is just like carving a pumpkin, but without the mess. From stickers to paint, Good Housekeeping has a fantastic on how you can create your very own creepy homemade hanging lanterns in just a few easy steps.
