OUR GUIDE TO
PARASOL REPAIRS
The sun has set on our company, however we hope it continues to shine on your parasols. Even though we are no longer making products we have created this guide and inventory of spare parts in case you need advice or to make a repair. Wear and tear, house moves and freak gusts of wind can mean lost parts or damage to your parasols. The links below are advisory and recommendations only. Where possible we have named the component in case the link we listed changes, or a supplier runs out of stock.
I have tried in vain to set up an Amazon seller account to stock our specific spare parts, and I am very sad that it has defeated me.
Octagonal Parasols

ROPE
We use taupe 6mm polypropylene braid on our octagonal parasols. We heat seal the ends (you can do this with a lighter), and you need 400cm of rope for one parasol.
You can see a video of how to replace the rope.

FABRIC ISSUES & FADING
Wear and tear is easily fixed with needle and thread. We advise double thickness nylon thread to fix any problems like loose velcro pockets or tassels.
The sun is the most powerful bleach and some sunfade is to be expected. We advise using protective UV fabric sprays to avoid fading. If sunfade does happen there is no solution for this.

CLEANING CANOPIES
Octagonal Canopies are removable for cleaning, we advise spot cleaning to remove bird poo or other stains. If you hand wash the whole canopy you may have to remove tassels and sew them on afterwards, and please be aware that washing may damage the fabric.
If you do wash the canopy please do it on a sunny, dry day and fit the damp canopy to the frame so it can stretch back into shape and dry in the sunlight.

Mildew
We cannot emphasise enough the importance of making sure your parasol is dry before storing it. The canopies are cotton which will develop mould and mildew if stored damp. If this has happened then there are remedies on Google involving lemon juice and sunlight, but these may damage the fabric and are not perfect. Sadly this is a repair we are unable to offer a good solution for.

Waterproof bags
We advise you to use a polyurethane waterproof garden umbrella bag suitable for a 3m parasol. Cantilever parasol bags are wider and often come with a telescopic rod so you can lift it over the parasol in situ.
Round Bamboo Parasols

Damaged arms due to a fall or wind
If your round bamboo parasol has fallen and the arms have bent then we are truly sorry for this sad situation. They are very hard to mend as they are handmade and delicate. The best solution is to splint the bent or broken arm. It is not perfect, but it’s the best solution we have.

Mildew
We cannot emphasise enough the importance of making sure your parasol is dry before storing it. The round bamboo parasols are made from polyester drill which will develop mould and mildew if stored damp. If this has happened then there are remedies on Google involving lemon juice and sunlight, but these may damage the fabric and are not perfect. Sadly this is a repair we are unable to offer a good solution for.

Cleaning canopies
We advise spot cleaning to remove bird poo or other stains, but please be aware that this may damage the fabric. Please use a gentle, non-scented, non-coloured hand soap.
FADING
The sun is the most powerful bleach and some sunfade is to be expected. We advise using protective UV fabric sprays to avoid fading. If sunfade does happen there is no solution for this.

BROKEN CHAIN
If your brass chain breaks this is easily mended with some pliers, the metal is very malleable.
