How to Celebrate Easter in Style

Easter Sunday is the celebration of new life, it's a colourful and joyful occasion after the privations of Lent and a great reason to gather people together for a feast. We've gathered our picks of sustainable and local Easter treats and our styling tips for Easter lunch.

Our thoughts are with Ukraine where Easter is a huge celebration which coincides with the pre-Christian celebration of spring known as Velykden (The Great Day). People gather together, feast and decorate eggs- either with particular ornamentation and folk patterns that have special meanings (Pysanka) or dyeing eggs in symbolic colours (Krashenka)

EASTER TREATS

Whether you've fasted for the last 6 weeks or not, Easter is all about feasting. To help you achieve this we've picked our favourite Easter eggs and treats.
Blushing cook easter eggs
Baked in South West London, using sustainably sourced cocoa and scattered with edible flowers grown in Devon, these mini eggs from Blushing Cook are special and luxurious. The bite-size half eggs are filled with delicious fudge brownie in a selection of flavours (dark, milk, white or vegan chocolate). They arrive packaged in hand stamped boxes with a hand written gift note.

Maison Francois Cochon
If you live in London and want to really impress someone this Easter then look no further than this delicious pink pig by Maison Francois. It's made from Valhrona chocolate, so the taste is ultra rich and chocolatey, if you’re a cacao snob like us you’ll be absolutely obsessed. This Easter offering is impressive not only visually, you also have to collect it in person from St James SW1Y- so it's a bit of a pilgrimage too.
-
Rococo vegan egg
Rococo are a British chocolatier founded in 1983 on the Kings Road, London and they pride themselves on their ethical and sustainable practises. This egg is a delight for vegans and non-vegans, made with cashews and almonds for a creamy and nutty flavour with a hint of sea salt. Hidden inside these vegan milk chocolate shells are crunchy hazelnuts covered in vegan chocolate.
-
Pump street oat milk chocolate chicken
We love this oat milk chicken from Pump Street, made from 60% cocoa and Scottish oats. Pump Street was founded in 2010, they're an award-winning bakery in the village of Orford on Suffolk’s Heritage Coast who make chocolate from beans imported directly from single estates and cooperatives around the world.

Booja Booja easter egg
Another organic, vegan and gluten free joy- this egg is made from hand-painted papier-mâché from Kashmir filled with Booja Booja's award winning truffles. Booja Booja are a Norfolk-based company who have been making vegan and organic treats since 1999.
Paul A Young easter egg
Paul A Young is our local chocolatier and it's not possible to walk down Camden Passage in Islington without pressing your nose against the window of his magical chocolate shop. This beautiful egg is made from sustainable single origin Colombian chocolate, sourced from a family business.
-
Clarence Court eggs
It wouldn't be Easter without eggs and Clarence Court by far offers the most superior free range eggs in Britain. Their extensive range varies from Burford Brown (has to be our favourite) to Old Cotswold Legbar to Duck and Guinea Fowl. The rich colour and flavour of their yolks can make the most ordinary recipes extraordinary.

EASTER STYLING

Every party needs a wow-factor to set the stage for the celebrations. On Easter Saturday at 11am the residents of Corfu throw clay pots (of all sizes) from their balconies, to create a symbolic “earthquake” like the one that occurred following Christ’s resurrection from his tomb.

If you like your crockery, then we have a different suggestion to create an Easter sensation. Parasols are the easiest way to set the stage for a celebration- introducing colour at a different eye level. Our warm orange and yellow Augusta and Dalya parasols add Easter cheer to any scene. Joyfully our new cushions have just landed in all the colours of spring and they're designed to work with all our parasols so you can easily create a welcoming and enchanting space.

When it comes to pattern and colour we believe more is more. Our new Coral, Yellow and Sky Blue cushions are based on a traditional suzani print. They're designed to match our parasols perfectly as each cushion incorporates contrasting or complimentary shades chosen specifically for our parasol designs. You can't go wrong with with an assortment of these, each one is printed by hand on to the finest cotton (and they're machine washable).

However you celebrate Easter, we wish you a day filled with joy and colour.
